This delightful pale salmon wine with strawberry and citrus notes is made from Pinot Noir grapes. It should be served lightly chilled and is the ideal accompaniment to alfresco meals. The name refers to the “Picnic Train” that took picnic-goers from Hamilton to the Wannon Falls in the late 19th century.

The grapes were fully ripe at harvest, having turned a pale pink colour. The freshly pressed juice was also pale pink but as the wine has developed it has turned to the pale gold seen in bottle. The wine has aromas of rosewater, pear and honey with a touch of guava, lychee, ginger and candied angelica. The wine is full bodied with fresh acidity and a supple fine-textured mouthfeel. There are flavours of honey, spicy ginger and candied angelica. The finish is long and dry with lingering lychee flavours.
